Lakeway Skatepark

I’ve been shooting a lot of photos at the Lakeway Skatepark lately, using an off camera flash with my new Lumiquest Softbox III. That thing is awesome.
I’ve been experimenting with cross-lighting in some of these shots, and I must say, I’m pretty addicted to it.

Cross-lighting is generally where you have your flash pointing in the direction of the sun (or other main light source) and place your subject somewhere in-between the two, so that he/she/it is lit on two different sides. This gives the subject a great 3 dimensional look.

Here are some of the results I’ve come up with recently:

As always, I hope you liked them!
I’d love some feedback if you have any.

Take care.

Hello Summer.

I’ve been taking a lot of photographs of flowers using my extension tubes lately.
I just realized this and figured, what better way to kick off the summer than a blog of flower photos?

If you aren’t familiar with them, extension tubes increase the distance between the camera lens and the film or sensor in a camera, allowing for greater magnification and a closer focus. They can turn pretty much any lens into a macro lens and are a much cheaper alternative to dedicated macro lenses.
They’re awesome.

Now that I’ve bored you with that tid-bit, here are some of the results I’ve gotten with the ext. tubes lately:

I wish you all a great summer!
Don’t neglect your sunscreen and stay cool!
